VALENTINE'S DAY Literacy Center Ideas

Perk up your Literacy Centers!

Valentine, just like other holiday themes, is an easy way to put a fresh face to those familiar activities that we give our students. Here are some Literacy Center materials that I created to add some fun to our lessons, check it out!

VALENTINE Quotes Writing Practice: RACE Strategy W7.2. Students will love this easy Valentine writing practice! They will definitely enjoy writing this activity sheets with full-color photos and reflective Valentine quotes. This activity will help them write routinely over extended time frames (time for research, reflection, and revision) and shorter time frames (a single sitting or a day or two) for a range of discipline-specific tasks, purposes, and audiences.

Students will definitely love this fantastic constructed response writing practice which uses the RACE stategy to develop the topic with relevant facts, definitions, concrete details, quotations, or other information and examples. A printer-friendly version is also included in this packet for you and your students to enjoy!

Multi-Leveled: ST. VALENTINE Constructed Response Practice & Word Work RI7.10. Students will love this 22-page constructed response writing practice which uses the RACE, Word Work, and other strategies to develop the topic with relevant facts, definitions, concrete details, quotations, or other information and examples.

The Informational Text, "Who Was St. Valentine?", is presented in 3 different levels for our special needs students, graphic organizers for word work and guided notes for writing activities, comprehension cards, and a quick check for understanding are also included. PRINTER FRIENDLY COPIES for the students to work on and IEP Accommodations Checklist are included. Targets Common Core Standards: RI7.4, RI7.10, W7.9, W7.10. Enjoy!

(FREE!) VALENTINE'S DAY Tic Tac Toe W4.5. Love using Choice boards? Here's a FREEBIE that contains a variety of activities about VALENTINE'S DAY. Students can choose one or several activities to complete as they learn a skill or develop a product. Choice boards can be edited (word document) so that you can tailor it based from your needs and of your students!

While in class we usually choose 3 activities in a row for spelling, I would encourage our students at home to do a “black out” for a reward!! I also included an easy grading rubric, have fun!!
